Privacy Policy
Last updated 14 October 2026
1. Scope
This policy applies to the website at echofiles.app (the Website) and to the earlier Echofiles application, which syncs folders over a local network without an account (the Earlier Application). It also identifies the policy that applies to the current Echofiles application and its service. All are provided by Ontiqo Pty Ltd (ACN 701 340 418), an Australian company (Ontiqo, we, us).
2. Echofiles and the Echofiles service
The current Echofiles application (Echofiles) uses an account and a service that introduces a user’s computers to each other (the Service). Echofiles and the Service are governed by their own privacy policy, published at mesh.echofiles.app/privacy. That policy sets out what the Service keeps, for how long, and how to delete an account.
3. The Earlier Application
- Function. The Earlier Application copies the folders a user chooses between computers on the user’s own local network. Files travel directly from one of the user’s computers to another over that network.
- No collection. The Earlier Application has no account, sign-in, analytics, crash reporting or telemetry. It communicates only with the other computers on the user’s local network.
- Local data. The settings it keeps (the folders chosen, the passphrase, and a list of the files it has seen) are stored only on each computer, in that computer’s own settings folder.
- Recovered files. Deleted and overwritten files are kept for 30 days in a recovered-files folder on each computer, and then removed.
4. The Website
The Website is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps ordinary web server logs for the pages and downloads it serves. The Website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookie.
5. Support requests
Support requests are delivered to us by email and kept only as email; nothing about them is stored on the Website. An email address given with a request is used to reply and for no other purpose. Requests made through the form at ontiqo.com/support are also subject to the Ontiqo privacy policy.
6. App stores
Where an application is installed from the Microsoft Store or the Mac App Store, Microsoft or Apple handles the download, updates and any purchase under its own privacy statement, and its dashboards provide us with aggregate counts. What the Service keeps about a purchase is set out in the policy referred to in section 2.
7. Children
Neither Echofiles nor the Earlier Application is directed at children.
8. Changes
We may amend this policy. The amended version will be published at this address with a new date.
9. Contact
