Echofiles+ for Linux
Open a terminal, paste this, and press Enter:
curl -fsSL https://echofiles.app/install.sh | shIt downloads Echofiles+, adds anything it needs from your system (it may ask for your password), and opens it. After that, Echofiles+ is in your apps menu.
It works on Ubuntu 24.04, Linux Mint 22, Debian 13, Fedora 40 and newer, on ordinary PCs and on ARM computers.
More detail
Installing from the download
If you'd rather not run a command from a website, download the file for your computer, unpack it, and run ./install.sh in its folder:
- echofilesplus-1.0.3-x86_64.tar.gz for a 64-bit PC (checksum)
- echofilesplus-1.0.3-aarch64.tar.gz for a 64-bit ARM computer (checksum)
The installer is install.sh if you want to read it first.
What it needs
GTK 4.14 and libadwaita 1.5 or newer. A GNOME desktop already has them; otherwise the installer adds them with apt, dnf, zypper or pacman. Older releases such as Ubuntu 22.04 and Debian 12 have versions that are too old.
Echofiles+ installs for your own user, in ~/.local.
Removing it
Run ~/.local/bin/echofilesplus-uninstall. Your synced folders stay where they are.
Firewall
If a firewall blocks incoming connections, allow UDP 47780 and 47782 and TCP 47781 so computers on the same network can find each other.
